Abingdon Ruritan Club vice president and author Dave Bowles shared a booth with the club at the Gloucester Daffodil Festival. Club members over the last month built a number of blue birdhouses. Bowles has published two books about a mockingbird that learns an important life lesson. He has been invited to speak at elementary school in Gloucester and other areas. Ruritans sold birdhouses to benefit numerous organizations which were displayed at the booth. Bowles, at right, chatted with hundreds of festival-goers and sold his books. Shown with Bowles are Danny Privott, chair of the club’s Environmental Committee and Mary Lou Privott during the booth’s setup. Other club members who participated are not pictured but who worked the booth over the two-day period were Dick Beasley, Barbara Priest, Doug Johnson, Wanda Sprouse, John Snyder and Don Sciria....
