The Mathews High School boys’ basketball teams closed the 2025-26 season out last week with a road trip to neighboring Middlesex High School and a final homestand against visiting King and Queen Central High School. The JV squad finished the season with two resounding victories while the varsity team split their final two games, falling to the Chargers last Thursday night and winning Friday on Senior Night. The ceremony recognized seven senior Blue Devils. At Middlesex, the JV boys led from beginning to end in a defensive battle. The boys took a 20-13 lead into the locker room at the midway point, thanks to eighth grader Marvin Ouma’s 10-point output in the first half. Mathews played aggressive defense and held the home team to only 26 points on the night. With a strong offense, seven Blue Devils scored leading Mathews to victory, 36-26. Ouma finished the game with a team-high 13 points. The outcome for the varsity squad at Middlesex High School was different. The game looked promising...
