Blue Devil boys top Chargers

In a highlight of the week in Mathews High School soccer, the varsity boys’ team bounced back from a loss to the Chargers earlier this season to defeat Middlesex on Monday night, 3-1. Salvador Cardenas, Adam Greve and Stanley Ouma provided the scoring to secure the win.
That was the only win for the MHS teams, with the JV and varsity boys and girls falling in a tripleheader last Wednesday to the visiting West Point Pointers, and the MHS girls falling to Middlesex on Monday, 4-2.
West Point
All three MHS soccer teams were in action last Wednesday against West Point. The JV squad put up a good effort but ultimately fell to the Pointers, 4-3. Meredith Salvadori continued her strong scoring streak, netting two goals for the Devils, while Joshua Bloom also found the back of the net.
The varsity girls’ team faced a tough West Point opponent, falling 8-0. The varsity boys also struggled, concluding their match with a 4-0 loss.
