A Red Cross blood drive held July 15 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins, resulted in the collection of 59 units, reported chair Nan Cross.
She had 60 people attend, with four deferred and six giving double donations. Three could not complete the donation.
Pins for multiple gallons were awarded as follows: seven gallons, Tamara Deal; four gallons, Jessica Wilson; one gallon, Kirsten Thomas.
Giving blood in Mathews for the first time were William Forrest, John Gerner, Tammy Jones and Ken Lucas.
The next blood drive will be held on Sept. 9.
