Bird and Wildlife Survey

Middle Peninsula Bird Club and Middle Peninsula Master Naturalist members visited Bethel Beach Natural Area Preserve in Mathews on Jan. 15. The group did a Bird and Wildlife Survey for Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Adopt-a-Trail Program. The survey is a project of the Middle Peninsula Master Naturalist Chapter. Eighteen species of shorebirds and waterfowl were identified for the survey. The group also picked up trash at the beach as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Those taking part included, from left: Cindy Hall, Bill Corbin, Robin Mathews, Kat Sharp, Anne Wilber, Mark Sopko, Ellen Marie Hess, Grace Hanners, Ross Johnson, Edie Bradbury, Hattie Baker, Amy Baker, Doug Dwoyer, Jim Drummond, Chris Conley, Sven Pretzman, Terry Skinner, Tom Crockett and Joyce Pully.
