Betty Jean Padgett, 78, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at her home in Gloucester. She was a nat-

ive of Newport News and a Gloucester resident for over 40 years.

She retired after running Padgett’s Printing in Gloucester County for many years with her husband.   Betty Jean was also a member of Petsworth Baptist Church.

Preceding her in rest are her mother, Hilda V. Reynolds; father, Robert M. Perry, and stepfather, Charles Reynolds.

Surviving members of her family include her husband of 61 years, Douglas W. Padgett; daughters, Laura P. Doster (Scott) and Ellen L. Middaugh (Robert); sons, Douglas W. Padgett Jr. (Amy) and David W. Dendy (Julie); grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Megan, Brenton, Julie Ann, Amanda, Aaron, Faith, Joshua; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and sister, Nancy Pound (Doug).

The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a service celebrating Betty Jean’s life will be held at 2 o’clock at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
