The Bee City Committee of Gloucester County met for the first time on July 14. This group of educated and concerned residents is planning to teach the public ways to provide healthy habitats to native pollinators, with the need for native plants and fewer pesticides. In hopes of becoming established as a Bee City affiliate in the near future, the group looks forward to holding events and outlets that will show the community the need for these vital pollinators in Gloucester. Committee’s members range from Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners, retired educators and beekeepers, all of whom have a great deal of knowledge to share about pollinators. Committee members are, from left, Susan Walton, Alexis Powell, Henry “Hurricane” Thompson, Chris Conley, LeeAnn Rigau, Beverly Holmberg, Sandy Pace and Rose Sullivan.
