Beatley joins clerk’s office as deputy

Haley Beatley of Mathews has been appointed deputy clerk in the Mathews County Circuit Court Clerk’s office. She began her duties on June 1, replacing Judy Dixon, who retired at the end of May.

Beatley is responsible for recording deeds and other land records, marriage licenses, judgments, and other items that must be entered in the official record for the county. She also greets customers and assists them when they need help in the records room.

A Mathews High School graduate, Beatley holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance degree from Radford University. She previously worked at Ware Academy, where she taught Dance and Physical Therapy and served as Athletic Director. She continues to teach at the Mathews Dance Studio.

Beatley has one daughter, Eden Smith.
