BBQ sales at Bena for the Fourth of July weekend

Things are cooking at Buck’s Store Museum in Bena.

The museum, run by the Guinea Heritage Association, will be selling pre-ordered barbecue by the pound and pre-ordered pork butts on Saturday, July 3.

This is a popular and regular fundraiser for the museum before big holidays.

Ginny Snowden of GHS said all profits will go toward continuing renovations on the store of the late Buck Rowe. Siding put on around 1960 has been removed, “exposing the older, original clapboard wood siding damaged by moisture,” Snowden said. That repair work is a priority now on the store.

Donations of money, material and labor are all appreciated, she added.

Buck’s Store will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 3, offering the pulled barbecue all day and the pork butts, hot and ready for pickup, from 2-4 p.m. During lunch time, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., barbecue sandwiches will be available, as they are every week, Snowden said.
