The BayPort Foundation raised $142,734 at its fourth annual Charity Golf Classic event, hosted on May 1 at the James River Country Club, Newport News.
Forty-seven businesses sponsored the tournament (including Gold Sponsor business partners Candescent, Haywood Floor Covering, Mastercard, North River Construction and Velera) and 96 golfers played the award-winning course.
The fundraiser included the second annual wine tasting and dinner hosted at Circa 1918 in Newport News on April 30. One hundred percent of the Charity Golf Classic funds go directly to fund grants supporting the BayPort Foundation’s mission, including its $100,000 scholarship program and charitable grant awards to address gaps in education and workforce development with the half-million-dollar, three-year, step-down grant called Accelerating Change Together—or the ACT Grant.
