Bay to Belly

Bay to Belly, a traveling exhibit from the Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown, opens Saturday at the Mathews Historical Museum, 200 Main Street. Funded by grants from the Virginia Humanities and the Thomas Nelson Education Foundation, the exhibit explores the relationship between the people, the bay’s numerous aquatic species, and the foods of the Chesapeake Bay region. The exhibit will remain in place through May. “We are pleased that all children in Mathews County schools will have an opportunity to visit the exhibition during the next two months,” said John Caramia, director of the Mathews Museum. “And we are extremely fortunate to be able to share this wonderful story with the residents and visitors of Mathews County, as we prepare to honor our Mathews watermen at our May Faire Heritage Festival on May 7.”  Dale Robinson worked with the Yorktown Museum and Mathews Superintendent of Schools Nancy Welch to bring the exhibit to Mathews.
