The 12th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser to benefit Hands Across Mathews will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Bay School Community Arts Center, 279 Main Street, Mathews.
Beautiful handmade bowls from the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild will be displayed and sold in the Art Speaks Gallery. Soup, bread, cookies and water will be served in the pottery studio. Guests may choose to dine communally in the gallery and classroom or take their meals to go.
“The event is a poignant reminder that there are those around us that, without the aid of Hands Across Mathews, will surely have empty bowls in their future,” said a press release.
Each bowl and serving of soup costs $20, with additional servings of soup available for $5 each. No advance sales will be made. Cash in exact change, charge cards, and checks made payable to Hands Across Mathews will be accepted.
There will be a raffle for several donated works of art at the end of the event.
