The Gloucester Pickleball Club faced off against the Williamsburg Pickleball Club at the third annual Battle of the Paddles fundraiser for Bacon Street Youth and Family Services, held on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Williamsburg.
Bacon Street has offices in both Gloucester and Williamsburg. Through the efforts of both clubs and sponsorships, more than $7,500 was raised during this event.
GPC and WPC each provided 16 mixed doubles teams ranging from all ages and skills to face off for the coveted Team Champion trophy. GPC took the crown in 2023 and 2024, but this year, WPC outscored GPC 28 to 20 for the title and bragging rights.
The Battle of the Paddles was operated by CAM OHANA Pickleball co-founder Carlos Morales. Food vendor Cool Concessions provided treats, while Elevate Pickleball provided demo paddles for players to test, as well as pickleball accessories and apparel for purchase. FM 93.5 The Burg provided music, creating a fun atmosphere.
