Back in Time to hold grand opening Saturday

Back in Time, a new coffee and vintage shop on Main Street in Mathews, will have its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be catered food, door prizes, and the shop’s signature coffee blends, all in a party atmosphere, said owner Penny Pastiva.

“We would like everyone in Mathews to come and participate,” she said.

The shop has an eclectic blend of rustic and upscale items, with something to appeal to both the masculine and feminine side. Old yard tools, oyster cans, a fishing box, and a syrup barrel sit alongside a craft room containing vintage-but-still-working sewing machines, quilts, and needlework paraphernalia. In the front window is a craft table where customers are encouraged to spend time on a project.

There are lamps and shoeshine boxes and pottery, old toys and books and sports equipment, silverplate serving dishes and china, artwork by Langley and Janet Deagle, silk flowers and foliage, and an old restored Coca-Cola cooler and cerami...
