Avonne Wright Hudgins of Deltaville, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2018 at Walter Reed Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester.

She was the widow of Aubrey “Chink” Hudgins. Avonne was born in Deltaville on Sept. 29, 1932 to George Landron “Ladd” Wright and Belle Powell Wright. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Countess W. Dudley, and her brother, William E. Wright. 

Avonne is survived by her children, Brenda Radwanski (Ed), Doug Hudgins (Ginny), Steve Hudgins and Robert Hudgins. She is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece, and a nephew. Also, her special friend Penny Hoar whom she considered to be her “other daughter.”

Avonne was a life member of Philippi Christian Church, a former member of Middlesex County Rescue Squad and the Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She loved helping others, spending time with family and friends, playing Bingo, and traveling. Her smile was contagious and she was loved by many. “Miss Avonne” never had an unkind word for anyone and many generations sought her out for hugs, encouragement, and motherly advice.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Philippi Christian Church in Deltaville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Middlesex County Rescue Squad, Deltaville, Va. 23043.
