Auto repair shop opens in Mathews

C-3 Automotive opened for business recently on Route 198 between Cobbs Creek and Hudgins.

Owner Dave Skirvin of Gwynn’s Island said the shop offers a number of maintenance and repair services for domestic and foreign cars and light utility trucks. He is a Corvette enthusiast, owning two of the vehicles, and C-3 stands for 3rd Generation Corvette.

Skirvin said he is proud of a new John Bean alignment machine, which works protects tires. Soon, he plans to add state inspection service; Skirvin is a certified state inspector.

Among services offered at the three-bay shop are preventive maintenance, oil changes, brakes, shocks, steering and related auto repairs.

Skirvin, a master mechanic, has 41 years’ automotive experience, having worked as a mechanic and as service manager for several dealerships and independent auto repair shops. This is the first auto repair shop Skirvin has owned. His wife, Debbie, is co-owner of the business. She handles the books.
