Auto repair shop opens at Point

Harvey Auto & Transmission Repair opened for business March 3. The new business is located adjacent to Tillage Automotive on Route 17, Gloucester Point.

Owner Mike Harvey said he repairs all types of cars and light trucks, both domestic and foreign models. He has three service bays. Harvey handles everything from oil changes and minor auto repair to transmission rebuilds and engine replacements.

He is assisted by Cody Sterling of Bena, an automotive technician. Sterling is a graduate of Gloucester High School and attended its automotive repair program. He previously worked at two other auto repair shops in Gloucester. Harvey has more than 35 years’ auto repair experience. He worked 25 years for General Motors and also worked at auto shops in Williamsburg and Gloucester.

Originally from Gloucester, Harvey now lives at Coke. His wife, Charlene, is vice president of the business and is the office manager. She also is operations manager for Merrill Lynch in Williamsburg.
