Author speaks, guests feast on delicious luncheon and Pies! Pies! Pies!

It has been over two years since members of the York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons have held their annual Book and Author Luncheon. Their ability to organize, stage, operate, and present true southern hospitality, and be gourmet chefs at the same time, has not waned. This was their 27th production. This social event began in 1993.

Every year, the event has proved to be a big fundraiser.

Always thinking what’s best for the community, the circle ladies decided to change the time of year for the lunch. It was previously held in the spring but this year the circle chose October because statistics showed fewer COVID-19 cases in the fall. The last luncheon was held April 4, 2019.

Upon entering the dining room, glowing with fresh flowers and attractive table settings, at Providence Baptist Church in Gloucester, guests were greeted with the sight and aromas of many, many slices of pie. More than 300 servings from 50 homemade pies awaited selection. With choice in hand...
