Auditions for the Court House Players’ upcoming spring musical comedy production “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall at Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main Street, Gloucester.

The show tells the story of the charming and ambitious Monty Navarro, who unexpectedly discovers he is ninth in line to inherit a vast family fortune and thus hatches a cunning plan to eliminate the eight relatives ahead of him.

While navigating his treacherous path to wealth and privilege, Monty encounters a colorful array of eccentric characters from his family tree, all portrayed by a single actor, and attempts to dispatch them in unique and uproarious ways. Along the way, he meets a host of other characters and becomes romantically involved with two captivating women.

Described as “a delightful exploration of ambition, love, and the absurdities of social class,” the show has a witty script, delightful characters, and memorable songs.
