Attempted murder, child abuse charges certified to a Gloucester grand jury

Charges of attempted capital murder and felony child abuse and neglect against Brian and Shannon Gore whose emaciated six-year-old daughter was found caged and living in filthy conditions were certified to a Gloucester grand jury on Tuesday.

The girl was discovered in April by Gloucester Sheriff’s Office investigators who searched the Gores’ residence on Carrie Lane at Hayes in connection with a burglary case.

Chief investigator Lt. Scott Little, the only person to testify Tuesday, said the girl was found in a darkened room inside a legless crib topped by a heavy board. He said she was covered in human waste, whimpering and malnourished to the point where she was missing large portions of her hair.
