Art contest winners

The Gloucester Branch of the NAACP held a community art contest, “Connecting as a Community through Art: Interpretations of Kindness.” Winners were announced Saturday afternoon at the Daffodil Festival. NAACP members Velma Benns (far left) and Pamela Garner (far right) are shown here with winners, from left, Tenley Wiggs, Aubrey Grigsby and Oksana Oshidar. The contest was open to all Gloucester residents, regardless of age. The 23 submitted entries were exhibited at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester, 6894 Main Street, last month, and voting took place at the same location. Grigsby won first place and a $200 prize. Second place, and $100, went to Wiggs, while Oshidar received $50 and third place.
