Angler reels in 3 lbs. largemouth bass

On a recent cloudy early afternoon, a fisherman walked out onto the floating dock at Beaverdam Reservoir, cast a jig, then “bam,” he reeled in a three-pound largemouth bass, Park Ranger Elizabeth Keefer reported.

Other species that have been caught recently include white perch, chain pickerel and bluegill, she said.

One fisherman reported catching a decent sized black crappie when fly-fishing from a boat last week. Another angler caught a few bass using an umbrella rig while trolling in his boat.

Beaverdam Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Saturday and then from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 30. The park is closed for Thanksgiving. The park rents watercraft, and sells bait and concessions.
