Ann Andrews is the keeper of the records, serving her family business, Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory of Gloucester, as its secretary and treasurer/bookkeeper.

In partnership with her husband Jerry, she said, “Our business helps families make funeral arrangements for their loved ones. We offer traditional services and on-site cremations.”

The company was established in 1975 and is now on its second generation of family ownership. “This is a family-owned business so we must all work together to keep things running smoothly,” Andrews said. “I retired from teaching after 34 years and came into business to work with my husband.”

She had taken business courses in high school, but after all those years found that “it was quite a challenge to learn all of the accounting terms … moving from mostly female work to mostly men has also been challenging,” she said.
