After 30 years in the restaurant business, Lynne and Joe Davenport of Richardson’s Café and the former Lynne’s Diner in Mathews are retiring, and Richardson’s is now in the hands of longtime employee Amy Williams and her husband Chris.
“It’s time for us to retire, turn it over, and let someone else carry it on,” said Lynne. “I’m excited for Amy to take it and flourish. She excels at it, and we wish her the best.”
Amy, who took over the restaurant on June 23, said that having her own restaurant has been a lifelong dream, and the lease agreement with the Davenports is her opportunity to fulfill that dream.
“For a long time I never thought it would happen,” she said. “But my husband and my mom and dad, they’ve made my dream … Lynne and Joe are wonderful people. We’re truly blessed to be in this position, and we want to make them proud.”
