A session about working waterfronts will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Watermen’s Hall on the Virginia Institute of Marine Science campus, Gloucester Point.

The Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck and Accomack/Northampton planning district commissions are jointly sponsoring the session at VIMS and one during the same day and time at Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa.

“The preservation of working waterfronts is critical to both retaining our cultural identity as well as an essential component of our rural coastal economic fabric,” said Lewis Lawrence, executive director of MPPDC, of which Gloucester and Mathews counties are members.
