Accident on Rt. 17 causes temporary change in traffic pattern

A temporary traffic pattern is in place at the intersection of Route 17 and Brays Point Road in Gloucester County following a vehicle crash earlier today, Dec. 16, that damaged a traffic signal pole.

An armored truck struck and damaged a signal pole at the intersection today, requiring the removal of the pole and traffic signal equipment for Route 17 southbound, said a press release from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Motorists should use additional caution traveling through this intersection, said the release. Signs, barrels, message boards and flashing traffic signals provide direction for motorists on a temporary basis until new signal equipment can be installed.

The following temporary patterns are in place at the Route 17 and Brays Point Road intersection:
