AARP TaxAide to begin services next month

The Middle Peninsula AARP TaxAide group will be starting its tax services the first week of February at Gloucester Library (Main Street Center), Mathews Memorial Library, the Cryer Center at Locust Hill and Bethany United Methodist Church in Gloucester Point.

The group will be operating by appointment only and is not taking phone appointments in Gloucester or Mathews this year.

Similar to last year, taxpayers will have their documents scanned during the first appointment. Their federal and Virginia taxes will be prepared remotely and they will need to return for a second appointment to review, sign and receive a copy of their return. Returns will be electronically filed with the IRS and Virginia.

Packets will be available at the Gloucester, Mathews, Deltaville and Urbanna libraries as well as the Cryer Center on Jan. 24. Packets will be handed out at Bethany United Methodist on Feb. 2 and subsequent Wednesdays.
