The Middle Peninsula AARP Tax Aide group is starting to gear up for the 2023 tax preparation season.

“We provide our neighbors in Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties with free and accurate federal and state income tax preparation and filing,” said Therese Creel, district coordinator for the AARP Tax Aide group.

“We are looking for volunteers to help our neighbors with their tax preparation,” she said. “You don’t have to be a tax pro to volunteer. Just a willingness to get involved and connect with people in our community. Giving back is rewarding and the camaraderie and support from our Tax Aide group makes volunteering fun.”

The group provides IRS-sponsored tax training and one-on-one mentoring to help make the experience successful both for volunteers and clients.
