AARP speaker

Jared Calfee, state advocacy leader for the American Association of Retired Persons in Virginia, spoke to the Gloucester Retired Educators Association last month about prescription drug prices, supporting aging Virginians and their caregivers, safeguarding financial security, and liveable communities. According to a release, he told those attending the meeting that AARP has community outreach programs on such topics as fraud protection and brain health, and he emphasized the need for caregiver support, pointing out that unpaid family caregivers provide $27.3 billion of care annually. Calfee also said that nonprofit nursing home facilities do better than for-profit ones, and he suggested that those seeking care look up facility ratings on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services website, CMS.gov....
