Twelve rowers, alumni and parents gathered at Williams Wharf at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, to participate in the 31st annual Mobjack Rowing Association Christmas Eve Row. Braving cold temperatures and high predicted winds, five rowers launched to sunny and calm conditions. The group rowed up the East River to the race course starting line, lined up and ran the traditional race to the finish line. The predicted high winds kindly waited until all had returned to the recovery dock and then came in full force. Coach Tim Ulsaker, who has run all 31 rows, summed up the day’s event. “Although it was a small gathering this year, the legendary feeling of the Mobjack spirit and the fun of reliving many miles of rowing on the East River was here today in full force,” Ulsaker said. “That spirit and the experiences that came with it are carried in the hearts of Mobjack rowers for a lifetime.”...
