Local anglers continue to haul in fish large enough to qualify for the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament.The Sept. 14 issue of vasaltwaterjournal.com lists the following newly-qualified catches:
Cobia: Bradley A. Amos of Gloucester, 55” fish caught and released Aug. 27 in Chesapeake Bay; Ryan Kieper of Hayes, 50” fish caught and released Aug. 27 in the bay;
Red drum: Patrick Ledford of Cobb Creek, 51” fish caught and released Sept. 2 at Thimble Shoals Light; Selene Frizzell of Gloucester, 47” fish caught and released Aug. 15 in Mobjack Bay;
Sheepshead: William A. Horsley of Gloucester, four citations, 11-pound, 4-ounce fish and 11-pound, 3-ounce fish caught Sept. 3 in the bay; 11-pound, 12-ounce fish and 12-pound, 9-ounce fish caught Sept. 2 in the bay; also,
Sheepshead, Nathan Gross of Hayes, 10-pound, 6-ounce fish caught Aug. 31 at York Spit Light; Chad Amos of Gloucester, 11-pound, 11-ounce fish caught Aug. 30 at Wolf Trap Light; and J. Brown of Hayes, 13-pound, 5-ounce fish cau...
