The Mathews High School varsity baseball team improved its record to 2-0 following a 9-6 win on the road Tuesday against Christchurch School. Sophomore Timmy Dehoux started on the mound, throwing four and a third innings, allowing three earned runs. Closing out the game, junior Dawson Adams pitched three and 2/3 innings, also allowing three runs. Leading off the game, junior Aidan West went 3-for-5 at the plate, with three singles, followed by Adams, who went 3-for-5 with three singles as well. Senior Brady Wright went 1-for-5 with a single and one walk, reaching base on an error in the second inning. Junior Will Jackson also went 1-for-4 with a single in the first and reaching on an error in the sixth. Senior Richie Hogge and sophomore Noah Wright each added a single, while junior Ethan Hudgins picked up a double. On Friday, the Blue Devils are scheduled to travel to Montross to face Washington and Lee. On Tuesday, MHS has a rematch at home against Christchurch, starting at 5 p.m....
