It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Green Musolino, who died on September 28, 2026 at the age of 82. Shirley was born on Jan. 6, 1944 in Gloucester, Virginia, to Thomas Jefferson Green and Margaret Green.
She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a cherished part of her family. Shirley is survived by her son, Matthew Musolino; her brother, Wayne Green; her grandchildren, Matthew Zac Musolino, Lauren Johnson, Anthony Musolino, and Michael Musolino; her great-grandchildren, Ava, Deacon, and Zayne; and nephews, Philip Green and Michael Green.
Shirley was preceded in death by her former husband, Matthew Musolino, and her son, Dominic Musolino, whose memory remained an important part of her life. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mary, Evelyn, Sue, and Thomas.
Family meant everything to Shirley. She often spoke about her two sons and the years she spent raising them. She would talk about each of them, their different personalities, the way they were raised, and the experiences they shared as a family. She cared deeply about the men they became and took immense pride in both of her boys. Being their mother remained one of the most important parts of who she was. Shirley and Dominic shared many special memories together. In honor of their bond and the memories they made, her ashes will be scattered at Lookout Mountain, a place that holds special meaning for her and will forever be connected to the time they shared together. Shirley would often say that her son Matthew was just like his father, while Dominic was like her. She saw pieces of herself and their father in her sons and cherished the qualities that made each of them who they were.
Shirley will be missed in the everyday moments, the conversations, the laughter, the family gatherings, and all the little things that made having her in their lives so special. She will be missed most in the moments when her family wishes they could hear her voice, share another conversation, or simply have one more day with her. Though Shirley is no longer here, the love she gave her family will never leave them. Her memory will live on through her son, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her brother, and all those who loved her. Rest peacefully, Shirley. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
