The Mathews Board of Supervisors, meeting on Thursday night, took a step toward resolution of one of the Hole in the Wall legal cases that’s been hanging over the county for over a year. The case is Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill v. Mathews County and County Administrator Ramona Wilson, also referred to as case no. 220. In a motion made after a lengthy closed session at the end of the regular September meeting, the board voted 4–1, with supervisor Tim Doss dissenting, to send a formal letter of apology to Mac Casale, co-owner of Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill, a county-owned property that the restaurant leases at 384 Old Ferry Road on Gwynn’s Island. The apology was also extended to Casale’s family and his business partner, Dean Tsamouras (although not by name).
