What began as an entrepreneurial vision for Gloucester native and Gloucester High School graduate Shannon Combs has grown into an annual Hampton Roads tradition now entering its ninth year. Combs, owner of Lux Events LLC, will present the ninth annual Great Food Truck Festival–’90s Edition from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday (VIP admission begins at 11 a.m.) at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. The festival will feature 20+ food, beverage and dessert vendors, live entertainment, family activities, cash-prize competitions and special guest Christine Lakin, best known for portraying Alicia “Al” Lambert on the popular 1990s sitcom “Step by Step.” For Combs, however, the festival’s ninth year also represents a journey that began in Gloucester County. “As someone who was born and raised in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School, it means a lot to look back and realize that something I created has continued for nine years,” said Combs. “I’m proud of where I come fro...
