Hayes retires after 20 years with VCE

After two decades of service, Elizabeth “Liz” Hayes, Senior Nutrition Education Facilitator with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Family Nutrition Program, has announced her retirement, effective Sept. 1. Since joining the program in 2006, Hayes has provided nutrition education to limited-income youth and families in Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex counties. Through engaging, hands-on lessons, community partnerships and evidence-based programming, Hayes has empowered thousands of participants to make healthier food choices, increase physical activity and develop lifelong habits that support overall wellness. During her career, Hayes has built relationships with a wide range of community partners, including Bay Aging, Head Start, Virginia Department of Health WIC (women, infants and children) Clinics, YMCA locations, Boys & Girls Clubs, social services departments, Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic and numerous food banks and local churches.
