When David Winch retired from his job selling industrial diamond products globally to the mining and construction industries, he and his wife Jane decided to move from their longtime home in the mountains of Pennsylvania to the shores of Mathews County. That move would change David’s life—giving him a new sense of purpose as a member of the Mathews Rotary Club. British by birth, the Winches are from coastal England, and they missed being near the ocean. They visited Mathews and decided it was the place they wanted to retire to. In 2024 they built a house on a creek off Horn Harbor, and even before they moved in, David met neighbors who encouraged him to think about joining the Rotary Club, an international service organization.
