Open Broadband’s fixed-wireless internet service to residents of Gloucester and Mathews counties ended this week. Open Broadband’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access, Starlink, Wi-Fi, Data Center and managed connectivity services were acquired by North Carolina-based company Connect Path on June 30, and the fixed-wireless internet service to local residents was no longer supported, effective July 15. In an email sent out to its fixed-wireless customers, they were offered two options for internet service: a 5G router service with the installation fee waived or Starlink installation at a one-time cost of $399.99. If customers decide to pursue either option, they are asked to send an email to info@connectpathnetworks.com. Inquiries to Open Broadband about the number of customers in the two counties affected by the change were not answered by press time....
