Gloucester County Attorney Ted Wilmot and Gloucester County Commonwealth’s Attorney John Dusewicz, fourth and fifth from left, were the presenters at the fourth session of the Gloucester NAACP Pathways to Leadership seminar, held last Thursday at The First United Baptist Church White Marsh. The men outlined what their jobs were and the difference between them. The Commonwealth Attorney is a constitutional officer who deals with criminal charges in the county. He works closely with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office to determine whether a case is taken to court on criminal charges or handled another way, such as diversion, etc. The County Attorney, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, deals with civil cases affecting the Gloucester County Government, advising supervisors and other county agencies about the legality of their actions.
