Angela Elazier was recently appointed to a four-year term on the Virginia Council on Women by Gov. Abigail Spanberger. A 1993 graduate of Gloucester High School, Elazier is the daughter of Richard and Brenda Dixon of Gloucester. She attended the University of Virginia, where she earned a bachelor of arts in psychology and African American studies. She then earned her master of social work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. A Certified Trauma Specialist, she has served as a school social worker for Henrico County Public Schools for the past 24 years. “She is well-equipped with a nuanced understanding of the cultural, psychological and systemic factors shaping the lives of women across Virginia,” a release stated. “Her career reflects a deep commitment to equity, empowerment, and the removal of systemic barriers that prevent individuals, particularly women and underserved communities, from achieving their full potential,” the release stated.
