Letter: We the people want change

Editor, Gazette-Journal: In 2007, Rob Wittman became our member of the House of Representatives. I was hopeful when I learned that he had education and experience in both biology and public health. The environment, specifically the Chesapeake Bay, and the country’s runaway cost of health care, especially rural health care, have been longstanding concerns in this area. I followed Rep. Wittman closely to see what he would do concerning these two issues. And I waited and waited as nothing changed. Then in 2025 when he was elected vice chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, I thought surely now he will put forth a positive bill to protect the vitality of this critical resource. But, alas, the bay declines and nothing happens. As for his graduate degree in public health and almost 20 years of work in the Virginia Department of Health, he speaks repeatedly about his concern for rural health and his support for providing as much choice in health plans for everyone as possible.
