The Gloucester High School Athletic Department and GHS Athletic Booster Club will host a 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile run/walk at Machicomoco State Park on Saturday, April 23. Organizers hope to make this an annual event.

The goal of this event is to raise funds to help supplement items for teams such as new uniforms, updated equipment and invitational costs.

The race committee is looking for sponsors and donations from local businesses to help with event expenses. Four sponsor levels have been made for potential sponsors. The white level is for donations of $50 or less, black level is $50 to $200, red level is $250 to $450 and the gold level $500 or more. Each level grants a different level of sponsorship display.

They are accepting donations for raffle prize items such as gift cards, T-shirts and other merchandise. Each runner will be given one ticket; other tickets will be available for purchase.
