The Mathews Land Conservancy recently welcomed four new members to its board of directors, enriching the group’s plans for Phase II Development Initiatives. New members are Stan Grice, Fred Lyon, Bernard Moughon and Robert L. Riddle.
In announcing this expanded team of professionals, newly elected chairman Craig DeRemer stated, “I am excited with the prospects for the coming year including our expanded programs at Williams Wharf and other properties. The new directors bring a wealth of technical, financial, and legal expertise ensuring that the Conservancy will continue to serve the citizens of Mathews County with waterway access, water-based activities and community events.”
In Phase II, MLC plans for the completion of the Owens Maritime and Boathouse Center. “There are now architectural plans for the boathouse, construction of a new boardwalk and floating docks to advance our core mission to preserve and protect waterway access for public use, benefit, and education,” noted board secretary Tim Hudgins. “These and other measures, with strong local support, will mean even more opportunities in water activities, education and training, while maintaining and expanding community activities.”
