4¢ tax increase proposed in Gloucester

Gloucester County Administrator Brent Fedors is proposing a four-cent increase on the county’s real estate tax rate to balance the county’s fiscal year 2017 budget, which he presented to the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors during its meeting Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse.

If the proposed rate increase is accepted by the board, it would change the county’s real estate tax rate from 68 cents per $100 of assessed value to 72 cents per $100 of assessed value.

The board will work on tweaking the proposed budget over the coming weeks, which also includes recommended changes to the BPOL (Business, Professional and Occupational License) structure and rates, and is expected to adopt a budget on April 18.
