A number of public events in coming weeks will mark America’s 250-year celebration in Yorktown, sponsored by York County VA250.
The 1774 York County Resolves will be commemorated from 6-8 p.m. Friday. A procession from Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters to the Thomas Nelson House begins at 6.
The historic play “From Colony to Country,” first staged earlier this summer at Rosewell, will be performed at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at the Watermen’s Museum, 309 Water Street, Yorktown. It is produced by the Fairfield Foundation and the Watermen’s Museum, and depicts a visit of Lewis Burwell of Fairfield to John Page at Rosewell. They, their families and the enslaved at those plantations speak of the looming revolutionary storm. This production is free.
