ZORA FRANCIS (PEARL) WEBB

Zora Francis (Pearl) Webb passed away on May 10, 2017 after a prolonged illness

Her early life began in Stevensonville, Tennessee, as the oldest daughter of Frank and Anna Belle Amis. In 1951, she moved from Tennessee to Fort Worth where she married and raised her four children.  Her ex-husband’s employment with IBM resulted in the family moving from Texas in 1974 to Bowie, Maryland, back to Texas and eventually to Burke, Virginia.  By 1985 she had settled in Falls Church, Virginia, and worked as a sales associate for Lord & Taylor. In 1992, upon her retirement from Lord & Taylor, she made the decision to relocate to Gloucester, Virginia.

Her time in Gloucester was spent working for the Agency on Aging with the Meals on Wheels program, as a volunteer with the Gloucester Public Library and Army Community Service at Fort Eustis. More importantly, her spiritual needs were met as a loyal member of First Baptist Church of Ordinary. This important relationship has sustained her up until the end of her days.  Her commitment to God was expressed in her own words prior to her death: “Never assume that what accomplishments you have enjoyed were done by you alone. God enabled you to do so. Praise his Holy Name.”

Left to mourn her passing are: children, Linda Webb McClellan, Bobby Joe Webb Jr., Paulette Elaine Webb, Alen Dwayne Webb; Linda (spouse Sylvester’s) children, Erin Dale Byrd, Corinne (spouse Duron) Bell, and Allison McClellan; grandchildren, Hausson and Jai Byrd; Bobby’s son, Dwayne Webb; Paulette’s children, Ashley (spouse Mike) Lamothe, Steven Webb (father Stanley Ellison);  grandchildren, Tatiana and Aubree Lamothe; Alen (spouse Diedre’s) children, Lynsey, Brice, Kirstie, Cameron, Andrew and Hazel Webb; siblings, Betty Lou McClain and Hennah Amis, and a multitude of much-loved nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews, cousins and friends.

In answer to her prayer to be one with God, Zora Francis Webb’s funeral service will be held 18 May 2017, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ordinary, 4213 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, Virginia 23072. Interment will be in Pinecrest Cemetery in Columbia, Tennessee.
