The youth soccer program at the Mathews Family YMCA is preparing to kick off on April 3, with registration now open.The Y has partnered with Garrett and Geoff Gregory on the eight-week program. The two men lead Seven Rivers FC, a nonprofit soccer program focused first on youth and second on the game, said a press release.

Two sessions will be held every Saturday; a 9-10 a.m. session for ages 3-5 and 6-8, and a 10-11 a.m. session for ages 9-11 and 12-15. The sessions will be at the Middlesex Sports Complex behind St. Clare Walker Middle School. There will be approximately 30 minutes of skill development and 30 minutes of small-sided game playing each session.

The cost of the program is $50 for YMCA members and $80 for non-members. Scholarships are available, and a jersey will be provided. Athletes are required to wear shin guards at all practices and games. Cleats are not required for the younger age groups, said the release, but are encouraged for the older players.
