Yorktown unity march in planning stages

Erase the Race is in the beginning stages of planning a unity march in Yorktown, to embrace differences and focus on similarities.

D’Shawn Wright, local entrepreneur and community leader, is spearheading the unity march to be held on March 25, 2017 beginning at York High School and ending at the Yorktown beach. 

“We want to bring people together and bring awareness to the good we have,” Wright said. “Media outlets and social media can make you feel bad and gloomy about life, but for one day, we want people to feel goodness within themselves and hopefully we can plant a seed to keep moving and progress from that.”

The Erase the Race movement began due to the climate of our country and the world, a release said. Wright said there is a lot of division but points out this is not limited to racial divide.
