Yorktown knitting shop expands into Gloucester

What began as an online yarn sales business about 15 years ago has evolved into a storefront business with a location in Yorktown and now another in Gloucester.

 

Coordinated Colors Yarn Shoppe opened its new store on Main Street in mid-December. Sherri Hacke of Chesapeake, is chief executive officer for the company and her husband, Bryan, is general manager for the two stores.

 

Mrs. Hacke said they are a full-service yarn shop that provides yarn, other fibers and supplies for knitting, crocheting and spinning of wool into yarn. The two stores stock different yarns, accessories and patterns, she said, and both offer classes and workshops about knitting, crocheting and related topics. They also have a free online newsletter to keep customers abreast of upcoming workshops and specials.

 

The Gloucester store has more than 1,500 square feet, while the sister store in Yorktown has 2,500 square feet. Both stock both lower-priced and high-end items, and most of ...
