Yorktown’s 17th annual Rhythms on the Riverwalk Concert Series kicks offSept. 9.
These free outdoor performances are held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing through mid-October. Visitors can expect several genres of music including country, jazz and a little bluegrass.
The series opens on Sept. 9 with The Whiskey Rebellion. From Richmond, members of this acoustic band draw from their diverse backgrounds to bring bluegrass, jazz, and a bit of rock and roll to the stage.
The following Thursday, Sept. 16, The BJ Griffin Band takes the stage. This group performed in last fall’s series and has also played Freight Shed stage during Yorktown’s winter concert series. Griffin is a singing cellist who has performed internationally. He mixes classical, jazz, and pop music, breaking barriers between music genres.
